This book is about a woman whose name is Molly Clarkson.She has got a lot of money.She likes sharing it with anyone who needs. But she thinks everybody loves her just because of her money.She has got three children; Jackie, Diane and Roger. Jackie lives with her mother, Molly. She is very sensitive about her mother. She loves her very much and she is sick of everyone who wants money from Molly especially her sister and brother. Diane,the youngest in the family, is twenty years old. She lives in London on her own. She wants to be a singer. But she could never get work. She likes to buy expensive things and always ask her mother for money. Roger thinks the garden is very big for her mother. He wants to have half of the garden. Molly has a brother; Uncle Albert. His wife is very ill. And he wants money for her treatment. There is a gardener who works for Molly. Molly doesn’t like him because he wants to have half of the garden too. And a guy whose name is Peter Hobbs. He is angry with Molly.Because he’s lost his job. He thinks the reason is Molly. He says he is going to kill her.
The book begins with Molly’s fiftieth birthday;
Molly is having a party in her big house. It is a very nervous night. Everybody asks Molly for money. Molly is angry at them. She says nobody is getting anymore money from her,not before she dies .And she quickly goes to her bedroom. Early next morning the house is quiet.Suddenly a scream is heard and everyone wakes up. Roger and Diane goes to Molly’s bedroom. They are shocked because she is dead. Diane and Roger calls Dr.Pratt.He says that Molly has taken sleeping tablets .But the bottle of tablets are lost. So Dr. Pratt calls the police.Two detectives investigate the murder. First of all they make the family talk about homicide.While they are talking, the empty bottle of sleeping tablets is found in Diane’s room but she denies this and says she isn’t guilty. After that detectives go to gardener’s house, they see a Picture of a woman and they understand who the murderer is. It is Jackie! She’s killed her mother because she loves Tom Brigss,the gardener. He loves Jackie too. However Molly doesn’t like him. When Molly goes downstairs to see the dogs, Jackie puts the sleeping tablets in her hot milk and she puts the empty bottle in Diane’s bag. In the end Jackie is arrested and Albert,Roger and Diane get all the Money…
